Oh, Thank you, Matt Wuerker for this one!

Family separation policy starts dividing Republicans
The emotional policy of separating children from their parents is also starting to divide Republicans and their allies as Democrats turn up the pressure. Former first lady Laura Bush called the policy "cruel" and "immoral" while GOP Sen. Susan Collins expressed concern about it and a former adviser to President Donald Trump said he thought the issue was going to hurt the president at some point. Religious groups, including some conservative ones, are protesting.
Mrs. Bush made some of the strongest comments yet about the policy from the Republican side of the aisle.
"I live in a border state. I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart," she wrote in a guest column for the Washington Post Sunday. She compared it to the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, which she called "one of the most shameful episodes in U.S. history."
Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine said she favors tighter border security, but expressed deep concerns about the child separation policy.
"What the administration has decided to do is to separate children from their parents to try to send a message that if you cross the border with children, your children are going to be ripped away from you," she said. "That's traumatizing to the children who are innocent victims, and it is contrary to our values in this country."
Former Trump adviser Anthony Scaramucci said in a weekend interview that the child separation interview could be dangerous for Trump. He said the president "should be immediately fixing this problem."
To Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the administration is "using the grief, the tears, the pain of these kids as mortar to build our wall. And it's an effort to extort a bill to their liking in the Congress."
Schiff said the practice was "deeply unethical" and that Republicans' refusal to criticize Trump represented a "sad degeneration" of the GOP, which he said had become "the party of lies."
Even first lady Melania Trump, who has tended to stay out of contentious policy debates, waded into the emotional issue. Her spokeswoman says that Mrs. Trump believes "we need to be a country that follows all laws," but also one "that governs with heart."
If this issue doesn't upset you, then I feel very sorry for you. If this issue does upset you, MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Write your representatives, senators. Write letters to the editors - put it on your blog - DO SOMETHING!
If you are not doing something then you are part of the problem!!!!!

What's Wrong With This Picture?
What's Wrong With This Picture?
Can you possibly imagine President Eisenhower (U.S. Army General leading Allied Armed Forces during WWII) saluting Adolph Hitler?????????????
My family has fought in every war in this country since the very first war King Philip's War (look it up) predates the American Revolutionary War by approximately 100 years! My family members MUST certainly be rolling in their graves knowing that our Draft dodger - in - Chief would stoop to such a dishonorable position!!!!!

Thanks Hawaii Volunteers
'We're gonna get it done today': Volunteers put finishing touches on emergency shelters for evacuees
Some very heartfelt and encouraging news from Hawaii - with the help of many folks - Carpenters Union, Hawaii's National Guard and other just concerned folks on the Big Island - temporary houses (although small and limited in number, at least a place for a bed and shelter) are being built for those who have lost their homes
From www.hawaiinewsnow.com You can watch it live on this website - they have the BEST in-depth coverage of what's going on with the eruptions and earthquakes, particularly interesting is the Vog Forecast - which should be of interest to anyone considering a trip to the Big Island.
"The 20 micro shelters will fill an 8-acre plot of land behind Sacred Heart Church off Pahoa Village Road. Several community groups and businesses pitched in time, supplies and manpower, including Big Island Electrical Services, HPM Building Supply, and HOPE Services Hawaii, among others."
It certainly makes our Federal Government, and our Jester in Chief, look like the uncaring folks they are. I have been following this event since it started, and NOT ONE word have I heard or read from any of our National Elected "leaders" about any compassion or help for those in this situation. Guess they need a Volcano in their backyard to understand!

Dissent and Disloyalty Edward R Murrow
Thank you Matt Wuerker for this fantastic cartoon! It goes hand in hand with the following quote by Edward R Murrow
“We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men – not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate, and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular”
― Edward R. Murrow
It is time that WE ALL have the courage to stand up to TRUTH, not as our Jester in Chief would have us believe, BUT to that which we know is true! Unlike the many owners of NFL teams who have lost their backbones and caved to the rants of our Jester in Chief!

Pope Francis, A Man of His Word --- Wim Wenders film
Recently, we went to see this documentary.
Boy what a contrast in Pope Francis and our Jester in Chief. Sort of like night and day, and the Pope comes out on the DAY side.
We have always enjoyed Wim's films, he did a fantastic job with this one. This is not your usual run of the mill documentaries - what was interesting is that Wim had complete control of editing it, and what a great job he did.
One feels as if one is sitting directly across from "Papa" - he speaks directly to the camera, so he appears to be speaking directly to the viewer.
Viewing him as an "ordinary" person, not full of pomp and bluster, he touches people, literally in the film, as well as the viewer's heart.
My husband just can't quit talking about the Pope, and currently I am reading a novel based on the Pope -The Delight of Being Ordinary - after seeing the film I can visualize him doing a "walkabout" as is the theme of the book.
I still get goose bumps thinking about Pope Francis not only washing the feet of a prisoner, but getting down on his knees and kissing the feet. And his reaction to the many deaths of migrants trying to reach the freedoms offered by European countries. His belief in that WE ALL are STEWARDS of the earth and should be taking care of it.
Well worth seeing.👍👍👍👍

The Post, a movie
We watched this one last night. Brought back many memories of the anti-war protests in our country, and how women were treated at the time, which we still observe even now by some men.
Very interesting how time will change one's perspective - I believe at the time, I wasn't as concerned about Freedom of the Press, as I am now, and what is MORE amazing is that I worked at the St. Petersburg Times and Evening Independent at that time.
In retrospect, it was a turning point in our country's direction, which currently seems to be going in the opposite direction, NO FREEDOM of the PRESS!
I particularly enjoyed the scenes with the hot press machines, as when I worked at the Times, hot press was just beginning to be replaced by cold press (paste-up). I learned how to read upside down and backwards when I would be in the hot press area.
If you haven't seen it, it is one to consider for historical purposes.
