Movies watched since July 2021 through January 13, 2022

It's been a really LONG time since I listed any movies we have watched - the Summer Olympics got in the way last summer (2021), and then I just got lazy about posting anything - must have been Covid related malaise 😫

I retired on Dec 31, 2021 and am ready to pick up where I left off.  Some titles might be repeats, however, there are quite a few new ones. Acorn TV titles are among the most watched in the past several months, with LOTS of series.

Here goes

My Life is Murder   Australian cozy mystery   πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Keeping Faith   heavy duty mystery, even though Acorn lists it as a "cozy mystery"πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Taken Down   VERY heavy-duty mystery   πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

19-2   Canadian mystery   LOTS of intrigue about leaks in the police department, racial tension, but better than most U.S. police dramas πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

The Gulf   another heavy-duty mystery, plot involves memory loss involving police officer's husband murder    πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Happy New Year, a Bit late

1-8-22

Happy New Year!

I know that is has been AGES since I posted anything on my blog ----- well, it has been quite the year (2021)!

Since my last posting, I have retired from Sno-Isle Regional Library system πŸ‘

43 plus years, and all that Covid brought with it, were just the final straw about going any further!

Just tired of all the folks who think Covid is a joke!

We have watched LOTS of movies since last July, however, I shall post them another time😎

Movies 7-11-21

Soccer (futbol outside the USA) has taken over most of our evenings recently - Copa America (Argentina "beat" Brazil), Euro Championship (Italy "beat" England) - so we haven't watched as many as we normally would.

Will start with the one you should avoid at all costs - my husband is still "talking" about how bad it was

The Lightkeepers - Richard Dreyfus and Blythe Danner, both excellent actors, the story is just so "flakey", even with the lovely Cape Cod scenery, it just was πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž

Nuts - Richard Dreyfus and Barbra Streisand are both outstanding in their roles.  Long before sexual abuse was in the "news" this story hit the nail right on the head.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Newton's Law - season 1 - Australian series.  Light hearted, comic relief in regards to crime, as only the Australians can do it.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

My Life in Ruins - Richard Dreyfus and Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding star).  Story is rather light and fluffy, the Greek scenery is Amazing!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Father of the Bride - Steve Martin's version.   I know I saw the original with Spencer Tracy years and years ago, this one was so much FUN, especially Martin Short's part! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Mr. Holland's Opus - Richard Dreyfus, Glenne Headly.  What a beautiful love story of music, and some really GREAT music from the '60's, '70's, which brought back lots of memories! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Obviously, I was on a Richard Dreyfus movie theme.

Hope you will find something you will enjoy.

Movie Update 6-28-21

Boy, it is HOTπŸ‘Ž out, so I decided to try to stay cool and post some new titles we have recently watched.

Some have been watched, and listed before on this post, some are "old" but never viewed before, some are recent....

Doctor Zhivago  --- the original with Omar and Julie.  Be a GOOD one to watch during this heat wave - with all the snow scenes.

Foyle's War - season 7 and 3 (finally!)  Foyle ALWAYS get his suspect!

Simone -  forget it.

Frida - WOW! WOW!

King's Speech - always an inspiration.

Clear and Present Danger - on the edge of our seats

Midnight Run - silly, but fun

You've Got Mail - always enjoy Tom and Meg together

Bringing Down the House - Steve Martin, Queen Latifah, and Eugene Levy bring it on!

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe - TAWANDA!

Manon of the Spring - French - shows the crime doesn't pay.

Shakespeare and Hathaway - seasons 1 & 2 - BBC "light" private investigators ---- Sebastian is a HOOT!

Awful Truth - hmmm?

Good- bye Girl never saw this before, sometimes waiting is the best!

Wag the Dog - never saw this before, should have watched it in the run up to the 2020 election.....

How to Marry a Millionaire - never saw this before, Marilyn, Lauren and Betty "glam" it up to catch millionaires.

Stay COOL.

Hope you find a movie to your liking!πŸ˜„

See you at the movies next timeπŸ‘€

Recent Movies 3-28-21

Recent Movies that we have watched.......  Once again, no particular order....

City Slickers --- Billy and friends make rounding up cattle look Oh so easy   πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Legally Blonde --- started out rather silly, moved on to not so bad after allπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Nothing in Common ---- one of Tom Hanks' movies that was totally unenjoyable for me, since I "love" him so much πŸ‘πŸ‘

Last Vegas ---- not a Michael Douglas fan, however, I LOVE Robert, Morgan and Kevin, so I brought this home, one of the few movies where I could see my husband laughing, laughing, laughing over the antics of the over the hill guys!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Strangers in Good Company ---- Canadian film from around 1980, group of women become stranded in the Canadian wilderness, they share secrets of their lives.  Actual photos of the women from their earlier years --- looking this up, it seems that the dialogue was ad-libbed for most of the movie. NOT an action movie. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Pelican Brief ----- adapted from John Grisham's book of the same title.  Excellent acting from both Julia and Denzel, on the edge of your seat suspense in many scenes.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

To Catch A Thief ---- Cary Grant and Grace Kelly come together in one of Alfred Hitchcock's better films - great scenery.  One of those films that we can both watch often πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Sleeping with the Enemy ---- Julia's great performance in probably the best drama she's been in. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Last Chance Harvey ---- Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson, 2 lonely people who come from different worlds.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Intern --- Robert DeNiro's most enjoyable film ---- LOVE the scene when he and the 3 young guys break and enter into Anne Hathaway's mother's house to delete an email on the mother's laptop!  Another one we can watch frequently.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Go Gonzaga!!!!!!

3-14-21 Movies Watched

Well, it's been exactly one month since I last posted movies we have watched lately.  Probably no reviews, you will see a theme with some movies ---- same actors in some.    We did watch several Walter Matthau - Jack Lemmon films, think they were a spectacular pair to work together.

King Creole   New Orleans with Elvis and Walter  πŸ‘πŸ‘

Tea With Mussolini   based on Franco Zeffirelli's childhood during WWII πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Cactus Flower  Goldie Hawn's performance won her Best supporting actress Oscar

Dressmaker  only Kate Winslet could pull this one off πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Our Kind of Traitor πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

House Calls   Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson  πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Foyle's War  Season 2  πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy   Alec Guinness, the one and only actor for this series   πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Foyle's War   Season 4  (there's a long wait list for season 3, so we will watch it when it is available)  πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Odd Couple   Walter and Jack  πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Grumpy Old Men   Walter and Jack  πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Fellini's  8 1/2    our copy has white subtitles over black and white film, there is TOO much white and not enough black, so it's not enjoyable   πŸ‘πŸ‘

Well, I hope you find something you will enjoy.

See you at the movies πŸ‘€
