Norman is a very lonely man, with exaggerated ideas of what he can get other people to do, especially with money and in political areas. He is continually walking around NYC with his phone ear-buds in, making (at least attempting) to make these deals. We never see him in an apartment or home, just his Temple, train station, events - so we assume he is homeless, however, his attire is always spotless, never wrinkled.
Richard Gere becomes the most annoying figure in a movie that I have recently watched, however, he "nailed" the part perfectly!!!! Kudos to him for taking this role!
