James and I watched this incredible movie the other evening. This won the best foreign film award this year. We had just watched Julie and Julia, and Welcome, both really well done movies, but Departures just blew me away.
I have Crazy Heart at home to watch, but not sure that it will come close to this one.
It was done with the most incredible music, photography. I won't give anything away, but this movie showed what love and respect mean to the Japanese people....
This one is worth your time!!!!!!!!!!! And if you don't like it, well, then I am really sorry.

Swarm of Hummingbirds

Have you ever seen 15-20 hummingbirds at one feeder at one time? Sunday May 2nd, one of my feeders was swarmed by that many hummers!!!! It was the most amazing sight, at one point 2 hummers were sipping out of the same spout! That was truly incredible. I sat at the window for over 15 minutes watching this, one of those rare events that don't happen often.

Move over Anne Tyler and Michelle Richmond

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson.

Last night I just finished this book, and all I can say is Move Over Anne Tyler and Michelle Richmond, there's a "new kid on the block" who has a real gift for storytelling. The images just walk off the page, and into your heart, mind and soul.

This book should be considered for many awards, but since it is her first book, Helen will be overlooked like so many other first time authors....

Bald Eagle on the Grand River (Explored!)

What a fantastic sight to see. Is there a better bird to watch? Maybe, but the heart soars along with this magnificent bird.

Landscape > Ubari > Sahara desert > Libya

Would like to go back to Libya someday, oh well.

Blue Poppies

Isn't this a beautiful flower? Mine died due to the frigid cold we had this past winter. I hope to find another soon.
