Thank you Matt, for all those whose family members DID SERVE their country honorable in war and peace, for pointing out the obvious of our Draft Dodger in Chief.

Hearing George Kent's opening statement this morning reminded me that DDIC is a fraud and unpatriotic.

This is the wording to the Oath of Office that U.S. Senators and Congressmen(women) take upon entering their elected office (BY THE PEOPLE!)

Lindsay Graham, Mitch McConnell and ALL the other Republicans who favor our Draft Dodger in Chief's version of events of recent time, and not so recent times, are NOT supporting and defending the CONSTITUTION of the United States as required by their oath of office, AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC....  Nor do they seem to BEAR TRUE FAITH AND ALLEGIANCE TO THE SAME;   and at the end if they did state SO HELP ME GOD, then they are potentially lying to the Power that Be.

When I was growing up, in a Republican family, the Republican party was known as the party of LAW AND ORDER.  Now it seems that the Republican party is the party of  LAWLESS AND DISORDER.

Gave up being a Republican many years ago, and nothing would ever entice me to return to the Party of Lincoln, as Trump (and all his cronies) has trampled it to death!

Been Busy lately

I have had many other things on my mind lately, too many awful things going on still in our country, however, I decided to take a breather for a bit...... 

One thing that did occur was I was asked to participate in the National ABC News poll regarding the president's rating, and who I would vote for....   Took about 6 minutes total, very interesting questions asked.....

But just in case you think I have lost interest in things.....

Hibulb Cultural Center, Tulalip WA.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Hibulb Cultural Center, Tulalip WA.

I found it a very spiritual experience to the point of tears when I spoke with three of the staff there.

This is the entrance to the center, modern yet with traditional wood.

These figures greet you as you enter the first exhibit - they are INCREDIBLE!   There is a replica of a longhouse in the building, which is amazingly beautiful - a video presentation helps before going through the exhibits.  

If you have the time, I would encourage everyone to visit this spiritual place.

Flame and Citron, a Danish/German film

We watched this film last night - very interesting, very intense, based on actual events and people. Set in Denmark in 1944.

We have watched many movies about the French resistance, English resistance, and others against the Nazis, however, we have never viewed one from the Danish perspective.

It is a long movie - about two and a half hours, in Danish/German with English subtitles, which are very easy to keep up with, as mostly it is body acting with little dialogue.
Usually we tend to pause a movie when it is so long, however, this one went straight through with no breaks.....

If you watch this, please make sure that you read the very last notes regarding Flame and Citron, so that you know how effective these two resistance fighters were.  Eventually, they were both recognized by the U.S. government for their efforts to stop the Nazis.

What has happened here?  That we need to consider having bulletproof backpacks for our nation's children!

And earlier today, in Texas, a USPS mail van was hijacked, the hijacker was shooting people while driving around,  with a possible shooter in another vehicle........

And, of course, our elected leaders will do NOTHING to stop the carnage, as they are afraid of the NRA!!!!!

August 4, 2019 Another Shooting

In less than 24 hours since my last post, another 9 innocent victims have been gunned down, this time in Dayton, Ohio ---- the mayor of Dayton, on NPR this morning, commented that her city was now the 250th city in our country to have had a MASS killing in just 2019!  Today is August 4, 2019 ---- how many more MASS killings will we hear about before the end of 2019?????????

El Paso shooting is sick and senseless.

Time to do more than pray. Time to enact common-sense legislation in Congress to empower states to deal with those who present a danger to themselves and others — while respecting robust due process.

Nice of him to finally admit that it is time for Congress to act on this issue........  

What happened in El Paso is directly on the head of the President of the United States of America, his rhetoric has brought out the worst of our society, he then asks for God to be with the victims.........?????????

Blood of the Vine, a French tv series

Several weeks ago, the second season of this came through the returns at the circulation desk, it looked interesting, so I placed a hold on the first season.

If you are into WINE, you will probably enjoy this series.

It is in French with subtitles, easy to follow.

As my husband has a vintage grape vine from our area, he is always trying to make wine from the few grapes he harvests each year.  So, he is really enjoying this series.

Benjamin Lebel is an internationally known wine expert, on the side he is a part-time detective of crimes associated at various wineries he visits......

We just finished the third series, on to the fourth.

The Art of the Heist

We are in the midst of watching this documentary series.
Very interesting regarding the theft of so many of the world's greatest art works....

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum lost many priceless works of art, they were simply cut out of the frames.  Those who maintain the museum decided to leave the empty frames on the walls in hopes that someday the works would be returned.

"The Scream" by Edward Munch was stolen along with his "The Madonna" in broad daylight with visitors in the National Gallery in Oslo, Norway.  The paintings were eventually returned. The country spent over $6 million, to increase security - amazing detail on gaining access.

The Nazis stole art from museums, Jews and just about anyone else in Austria and Germany.  The Lady in Gold was one of the most famous - Maria, niece of the woman in the painting, sued the Austrian Government to regain possession of her family's stolen artwork - going to the United States Supreme Court - eventually the works were returned to her.

We recently watched this movie.

It is outstanding!  If it weren't for Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her incredible courage to face up to the judges of the 10th circuit, we wouldn't be where we are today with equality.

Robert F. Smith was giving the commencement address to the graduating class of Morehouse College when he made a surprise announcement: He would be paying off the student loans of the roughly 400 graduates.

It was just the latest substantial gesture from Mr. Smith, the richest black man in America, who until just a few years ago was practically unknown.

Well, here is a man who is to be greatly admired and respected.....   So how about all those other World's Richest Folks stand up to the plate and follow his lead.....  

Probably ain't gonna happen, most of them are way to tight-fisted and greedy to part with their money to help fund the future of our country's upcoming leaders, educators, doctors and lawyers, to name just a few professions.......

Of course, folks like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet do fund wonderful charitable organizations to help build a better world.....

What sickens me is that today(05-20-19) Draft Dodger in Chief "joked" about being in office for 3,4 maybe 5 terms.....  If you are not scared about the path our country is taking, especially since the leaders of the current Republican party seem to be bowing down to this idiot, then I really feel sorry for you!  What is even more frightening is what this is going to do to the future generations of our country..... 

This new immigration policy that he has proposed, well let me just say this, under these terms (skilled, highly educated.....) HIS MOTHER and 2 of his 3 WIVES would never have been allowed in our country......

Tewkesbury Abbey

This is the Tewkesbury Abbey interior.  From the series Secrets of Britain's Cathedrals......

What is so different about this abbey is that the altar colors are yellow, most of the stained glass window have more blue in them than others.....   It is so different, I really liked this interior better than any other....

By the way Tewkesbury   is pronounced as TWOkesbury..........

Boy oh boy, what an uplifting and educational look at the many Great Cathedrals throughout Britain......  

Each segment showcases 2 Cathedrals.

The Favorite, movie

Recently, this movie was up for an Oscar, won for Best Actress.

Two family members had watched it before my husband and I watched it - they asked us to tell them "what was the point?" after we viewed it.......

THERE IS NO POINT, unless it is Abigail's digging a RABBIT hole, which she will never get out of.......

I have been an avid movie buff since the early 1960's - and this movie is BY FAR the WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER  SEEN!  What a waste of time.  

Don't waste your time or money on this.......

Fresno predicted high 95 degrees F.

Sacramento predicted high 87 degrees F.

Palm Springs predicted high 101 degrees F.

If you don't believe in climate change, you should really take note of these temperatures, they are not NORMAL even in California for April........

Bohemian Rhapsody, the film

My husband and I just watched Bohemian Rhapsody, (although this will NOT take the place of "The Black Panther" as my new favorite film,) it certainly was one of the BEST movies we have seen together - my husband still has not watched "The Black Panther", although he recognizes the music when he walks in the house and I am watching it.

Rami Malek truly deserved the Oscar for his performance as Freddie Mercury!!!!!!  

We were never Queen "fans", we were much more into folk music at that time......  However, I knew that there were two songs in the film that we both knew......  "Stomp, stomp, clap, stomp, stomp clap We will, we will rock you" - anyone who has ever watched Hockey Night in Canada knows that!!!!!  And of course, We are the Champions!

The film is certainly worth watching, even if you are/were NOT a fan of Queen.  Several people at the library have mentioned that they were never into Queen, but "loved" the movie.  Hope you will consider watching it.
