Detectorists ---- BBC comedy

Scanning the New Items in our library home page, I came across this "new" series.

If you enjoy British humor, this one will be quite the "find".  Since we enjoy subtle humor, and would rather find it without a laugh track, we were pleasantly surprised with this one.

Metal detectorists are a very unusual group of folks in this small village.

The actor who portrays Andy, is the writer and director of the series.

We can't wait to see further episodes!!!!

Hope you will give it a try.

Quote of the Day------Goodreads

Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life—and travel—leaves marks on you.

Anthony Bourdain

Happy birthday, Anthony Bourdain! The American chef, author, and television personality discovered his love of food during a family vacation in France. He stopped by an oyster fisherman's boat, felt adventurous, and tried his first oyster. The rest is (delicious) history.

Quote of the Day ----- Goodreads

You ought to expect better of people. It encourages you to be a better person yourself.

Jeph Jacques

Happy birthday, Jeph Jacques! His popular webcomic, Questionable Content, follows the daily adventures (and misadventures) of Marten Reed, an office worker and indie rock fan. While over a decade has passed since the webcomic's launch in 2003, Jacques has claimed that only a couple years or so have passed for his characters.

Charles Krauthammer editorial 6-17-16

Normally, I do not agree with what Charles Krauthammer writes in his columns, HOWEVER, in his editorial 6-17-16 he is spot on regarding "Trashmouth".

Even if you are on the opposite of the aisle from him normally, I would suggest that you take a few minutes and read what he has to offer.

Theeb, a Jordanian film

It's been 3 days since we watched this film, and I am still thinking about it, as is my husband.

Theeb is a young boy who follows his older brother, Hussein, who is leading an Englishman and his guide through dangerous territory, that is riddled with mercenaries, revolutionaries and outcast raiders.  Set during 1916, war in the Ottoman Empire.

The Iron Donkey Trail - railroad brought to the region by the English.

Subtitled, yet very little dialogue, so no need to be put off by that.

Scenery is stunning, yet desolate.  Story is at times brutal, yet unlike American brutality.

Well worth watching - one that I might consider adding to my personal collection.

Dana Milbank 6-16-16 editorial

If you haven't read Dana Milbank's 6-16-16 Washington Post editorial, please get yourself to your local paper or the website of the Washington Post and READ READ READ it.

As the law official's in Florida refuse to name the killer, you are probably aware that I refuse to name the presumptive R presidential candidate - Trashmouth - if you are NOT afraid of this man, you really should be.

Dana hit the nail right on the very middle of the head today, IF YOU think Hillary wants to take away the 2nd amendment, think again - Trashmouth is already taking away the 1st amendment, by excluding National press from his events!!!!  Dana is correct, the press just needs to STOP covering Trashmouth's events!

Remember this: Nothing is written in the stars. Not these stars, nor any others. No one controls your destiny.

Gregory Maguire

Happy birthday, Gregory Maguire! A year after his bestselling novel Wicked was published, composer Stephen Schwartz stumbled across it on vacation in Hawaii. He fell in love, convinced Maguire to give him the stage production rights, and got to work. Wicked, the musical, premiered in 1998 and is now the tenth longest running show in Broadway history.

Be careful what you wish for

Once again, I need to speak up against this new awfulness being spewed by Trashmouth.

He spouts off that if his "presumptive" opponent in the fall election wins, she will take away "your 2nd amendment right to own guns."  Well, he is effectively taking away every American's right to freedom of speech, expression and religion with his vile speech. If you don't agree with him watch out.

What amazes me the most is that so many Americans are falling for his agenda of hate.

Couldn't find this on the regular American news website I view daily, however, on www.bbc.co.uk  there is a very interesting piece on Roque "Rocky" DeLa Fuente of California (former Republican, now Democrat) who is on the ballot in several states for the same office as Trashmouth.

America is GREAT!

Generally, this blog is dedicated to only movie reviews, book reviews, Quote of the Day from Goodreads, however, today is a day that will be dedicated to those who believe that America is ALREADY Great and doesn't need to be bullied by a trash talking, disrespectful candidate for the highest office of this country.

It is time for those of us who believe that FREEDOM of speech, is a right for those who represent the press, and other points of view than trash-mouth's - of course, it is his right to his point of view, and his freedom of speech, however, when he verbally abuses any and all who disagree with him by calling them "sleaze", "crooked" and other phrases, well, he needs to remember that they, too, are entitled to their opinions.

Trash-mouth would "love" for those who believe and think differently from him to leave this country - people I know have stated that they might consider this option, I remind them, this is EXACTLY what he wants, he can then control those who have no backbone to stand up to him.  Those of us who differ in our opinion HAVE to remain in this GREAT country to be sure our country does not go down the path to destruction.

Remember what Abe Lincoln said - I may not have it worded exactly right, however   "You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all of the time."
