Hawaii's volcano

While my heart goes out to those folks on the Big Island, who have lost everything, I am terribly upset with PET OWNERS who evacuated but left their pets behind.  What kind of person does this?  I keep reading about folks who want to go back to check on their pets!   These folks are not to be pitied, they are to be scorned!
